The momentum program was originally designed specifically for people with Parkinson’s Disease but has been expanded to help everyone with a neurologic disorder. The classes focus on improving balance, strengthening your core to help prevent falls, cognition, and strengthening the skills need to complete daily tasks. The program was developed by Susannah Gillespie and Jen Landis.
There are currently 4 certified trainers that lead the classes which are held 5 days a week. They are in the process of incorporating electronic devices which can be used to monitor the progress of the participants. They currently have an enrollment of 80 participants. Most of the classes have 15-20 attendees.
This group allows you to develop a sense of community with others with Parkinson’s. We have all developed great friendships with people in the class and meet for breakfast every month. All the trainers are excellent and very knowledgeable in helping people with Parkinson’s Disease.
